The Greens have welcomed Environment Minister Ian Campbell's Environment and Heritage Legislation Amendment (Antarctic Seals and Other Measures) Bill 2006.  
"The Howard government's action to increase protection for Antarctic seals and to ban mining in Antarctica is timely," Greens Leader Bob Brown said today.
 
"The pressure on the great white continent and its wildlife will only grow. This is a bill the Greens welcome and will support," Senator Brown said.
