Attorney General

It is our vision to achieve an accountable and accessible justice system that at all times respects and upholds our democratic freedoms and human rights.  The principles of equality, fairness and reasonableness will drive our efforts to maintain and improve Australia’s law and justice frameworks.

Our three key priority areas are:

- Strengthening Australia’s equality laws in order to bring about a fairer, healthier and more inclusive society;

- Reducing crime and improving public safety via nationally co-ordinated and sustained investment in services and programs which effectively address the underlying causes of crime in those communities which need it most (i.e. Justice Reinvestment); and

- Improving access to justice by addressing unmet need and gaps in service delivery in Australia’s legal system, particularly increased funding for legal aid and community legal centres.
