Brown launches key Greens candidates for Queensland election
Australian Greens Leader Bob Brown today joined Greens Senator-elect Larissa Waters for the launch of Adam Stone and Sandra Bayley as the Greens candidates for Mt Coot-tha and Ashgrove in the upcoming Queensland election.
"More and more Australians are voting for the Greens' positive vision for Australia's future and moving away from the tired old parties," Senator Brown said today in Brisbane.
"The Greens provide a genuine alternative for the people of Queensland. The Greens have a track record for protecting the environment - whether that be more than 60,000 jobs on the Great Barrier Reef or the rich farmlands of the Darling Downs which are under threat from coal seam gas - supporting investment in public transport, keeping essential public services in public hands and investing in health and education."
Adam Stone has worked in the youth justice sector, has also spent time in Nigeria working for Medecins Sans Frontieres and was a policy advisor to Senator Brown.
Sandra Bayley is a practicing GP in Alderley, with a special interest in mental health. Sandra received 19% of the vote as the Greens candidate for Ryan at the federal election.
"Adam and Sandra will be great representatives for the people of Mt Coo-tha and Ashgrove and strong performers in QLD parliament," Senator Brown said.
