The Treasurer’s questioning of charities' tax deductibility status must be matched by questions to business organisations
The Treasurer’s questioning of charities' tax deductibility status must be matched by questions to business organisations, Australian Greens Leader Senator Bob Brown said today.
"The Treasurer’s questioning of certain groups' tax deductibility status shows a bias towards mining and business interests," Senator Brown said.
“I will be asking the Treasurer to ensure that any mining company contributions to business organisations are questioned before any assault on environment groups," Senator Brown said.
“It is the mining industry's wealth and political clout that needs challenging – after all it is the back down to them over the original Treasury backed mining tax that has cost taxpayers $100 billion over the next decade. That’s money that could have been spent on schools, Denticare and High Speed Rail."
