An intelligent and passionate group of Australian Greens will expand our work in the newly configured Parliament from July 1, Greens Leader Bob Brown said in Melbourne today.

Extreme industry figures intent on disrupting the forest signatories process should be ignored, Greens Leader Bob Brown said in Hobart today.
"People are out in the media saying the environment groups are being unreasonable for asking for high conservation value forests to be protected from logging," Senator Brown said.
Greens Leader Bob Brown has written to the Senate's President John Hogg urging Parliament House to take a lead in the 10% challenge campaign by Do Something! and CHOICE for a voluntary 10% cut in fuel, electricity and gas use.
A copy of Senator Brown's letter has gone to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Harry Jenkins.
"Here's a way for parliament to join the Australian community and business to parallel our carbon price committee's reach for binding cuts in pollution," Senator Brown said.
Greens Leader Bob Brown visited the contentious Brighton Bypass Aboriginal site this morning north of Hobart.
"A large swathe of earth has been removed 40m square or more and half a metre deep with no archaeological or heritage officer on site," Senator Brown said.
"The sense of place and 40,000 years of continuous history is being destroyed forever. It is a very destructive process and who knows what artefacts are in the removed soil."
Greens Leader Bob Brown has repeated his request to the Prime Minister to pass on an invitation to Her Majesty The Queen to visit Tasmania when she visits Australia for CHOGM in October.
“Her Majesty would get a very very enthusiastic welcome in Tasmania,” Senator Brown said.
“While I am a republican the Queen remains our head of state and Tasmanians would love to see her in the coming spring,” Senator Brown said.
