Bob Brown's press conference on Julia Gillard's plan to sell uranium to India 15-11-2011

Australian Greens Leader Bob Brown said today the prospect of selling uranium to India will horrify many Australians and is a giant step towards another backflip by both major parties: hosting a global nuclear waste dump in Australia in the years to come.

As well as Prime Minister Julia Gillard's flouting of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, Senator Brown commented on the old parties' stance on equal marriage.

Greens reject Gillard’s dangerous nuclear about-face

Australian Greens Leader Bob Brown said today the prospect of selling uranium to India will horrify many Australians.

"Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott agree on selling uranium to nuclear-armed India although the Australian people have had no say," Senator Brown said in Hobart.

"It's all about helping multi-billion-dollar mining corporations make more money, as Martin Ferguson would wish, at the expense of regional security. The government has removed the super profits tax from uranium."

Howard Government Say Opposition to Nuclear Waste Ships is "Alarmist"

The Minister for the Environment Robert Hill, labelled Greens Senator Bob Brown as "alarmist" in the Senate today for opposing the imminent passage of two huge nuclear waste ships through the Tasman Sea, off Sydney, en route from France to Japan.

"New Zealand is raising international opposition to the ships passage. Senator Hill denied the possibility of Australian uranium being involved. However the waste originates from Japan, a major purchaser of Australian uranium", said Greens Senator Bob Brown.
